Wesker, Krauser, Leon, Ada, Hunk, and about everyone else gets attention...so why not the Merchant?
I agree...The merchant should be in Resident Evil 5 and have a bigger part in it than in Resident Evil 4.

They hardly left The Merchant to die at the end - he's as fast as a ninja's bullet. He can be outside the firing range, you walk through the door, and he's ALREADY WAITING FOR YOU INSIDE! A simple self-destructing island should be no problem for him to dodge.
And if he's not in Resi 5, no-one will buy it. He shall return!
